Domtar has been recognized as one of the “25 Most Sustainable Private Companies in the World” by Corporate Knights, a global leader in sustainable business media and research. This sustainability milestone highlights Domtar’s long-standing dedication to transparency, environmental responsibility, and innovation – core tenets of its sustainability strategy.

The Domtar sustainability journey spans more than two decades and includes contributions from legacy companies like Paper Excellence and Catalyst Paper, reinforcing its impact on the sustainable economy. This recognition arrives as Domtar continues to demonstrate measurable progress through its 2030 Sustainability Strategy, solidifying its role as a leader in responsible forestry and sustainable paper production.

This inaugural ranking by Corporate Knights focuses on large private companies with annual revenues over $1 billion that disclose greenhouse gas emissions and other sustainability metrics. Domtar stood out among peers for its strong environmental performance and commitment to sustainable growth. Key performance indicators (KPIs) considered include energy use, water conservation, waste reduction, gender diversity in governance, and revenue or investment linked to sustainability initiatives.

According to Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights, private firms like Domtar often have more freedom to drive innovation and advance sustainability goals. Domtar’s leadership echoes this sentiment. Sabrina de Branco, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Steve Henry, President of the Paper & Packaging division, expressed pride in the recognition and reinforced how sustainability is embedded in every layer of the company’s operations.

This global acknowledgment precedes the launch of Domtar’s new five-year Sustainability Strategy, which outlines transparent, ambitious targets and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
