Domtar Reinforces Paper Packaging’s Role in Sustainability

Domtar is reinforcing the importance of paper packaging as a driver of sustainability, following results from the Two Sides Trend Tracker 2025 Consumer Survey that show growing consumer trust in renewable and recyclable materials.

The findings reveal that 67% of U.S. consumers and 76% of Canadians value paper packaging for its compostability and low environmental impact, while 41% of Americans are willing to pay more for products that use sustainable packaging. This shift aligns with Domtar’s purpose-driven approach to responsible manufacturing and transparent sustainability practices.

“This research confirms that paper packaging represents the balance consumers are looking for – renewable, recyclable, and responsible,” said Jules Van Sant, Executive Director of Two Sides North America.

Even with high recycling rates – over 60% in the U.S. and 80% in Canada – many consumers remain unaware of how effectively paper is recovered and reused. Domtar’s leadership in sustainability and circular production continues to help raise awareness about the true impact of forest products.
