Jackson Wijaya supports performance for World Environment Day

On World Environment Day, June 5, Jackson Wijaya, founder of Paper Excellence, reinforced his commitment to sustainability by supporting a special performance by the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP). The concert, held at Sala São Paulo and conducted by Brazilian maestro José Soares, aimed to raise public awareness about the urgency of preserving the planet by presenting works inspired by nature.

The orchestra performed pieces by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana (“The Moldau”), Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos (“Prelude from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 4”), and fellow Czech composer Antonín Dvořák (“Symphony No. 9 – From the New World”). All proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Association of Employees of the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra Foundation. This organization has played a vital role in supporting its members and their families affected by the recent floods in Rio Grande do Sul.

Paper Excellence, making this support possible through the Federal Law for Cultural Incentives, is sponsoring ten classical music performances throughout the year, featuring renowned musicians from Brazil and abroad.

Paper Excellence has stood out for its sustainable practices. At the end of 2023, Resolute Forest Products — a company within the group — won a Stevie® Award at the 20th Annual International Business Awards® (IBAs) for its innovative sustainability practices in Canada. The company was recognized for developing a new cellulose filament, a sustainable alternative to plastic films used in food packaging.

Through these initiatives, Jackson Wijaya and Paper Excellence reaffirm their commitment to sustainability, culture, and education, promoting a lasting and positive impact on society.
