Domtar has launched an ambitious 2030 Sustainability Strategy that places people and communities at the core of its mission as a leading North American forest products manufacturer.

The strategy outlines key objectives to support employees, Indigenous communities, and the regions where Domtar operates. With a focus on workplace safety, inclusion, community investment, and talent development, the company ensures that its values translate into measurable action across all operations.

“This pillar represents the heart of who we are as an organization and the legacy we want to build together,” says Richard Tremblay, President of Domtar’s Pulp and Tissue business unit. “We can only succeed as a company if our communities, employees and other partners share in that success.”

A Culture of Safety and Respect

Domtar is committed to achieving zero injuries by 2030. To reach that goal, the company will implement proactive safety programs and define annual safety targets starting in 2026, ensuring that every employee returns home safely each day.

The strategy also deepens Domtar’s partnerships with Indigenous communities, aiming to create more business opportunities and culturally inclusive environments. By 2030, the company aims to be recognized as a preferred partner for Indigenous communities and a workplace where Indigenous employees feel respected and valued.

Building Stronger Communities Together

Domtar’s long-standing commitment to community engagement continues through the Domtar Connects program, educational initiatives, sustainability projects, and product donations such as classroom supplies. The company has set a goal of investing US$ 20 million in communities by 2030 and will establish a volunteerism milestone by 2026.

Employee development is also a priority. By 2030, Domtar plans to:

– Expand career development opportunities for 85% of high-potential employees and successors.

– Strengthen employee engagement through internal surveys.

– Ensure key leadership positions are filled with internal talent whenever possible.

“At Domtar, we can create resiliency through our workplace culture, strong relationships with the communities whose success is intertwined with ours, and forward-looking, collaborative approaches to business, including investment in product innovation and Indigenous-led procurement,” says John D. Williams, Non-Executive Chairman of Domtar’s Management Board.

Domtar is reinforcing its role as a responsible industry leader – one that places ethics, communities, and long-term resilience at the heart of sustainable growth.
